An E153 error will occur in a Samsung indoor unit that is factory fitted or has a Samsung accessary condensate pump fitted, where the safety float switch has been activated.

The float switch on Samsung condensate pumps does not function as a means of turning the pump on and off. The pumps will run when the outdoor units compressor is running, providing the system is operating in cooling or dry mode.

First thing to check with an E153 error, does the drain pan for the indoor unit actually have water in it? As the float is activated as a safety, a high water level in the drain pan will cause an E153 error.

A blocked drain or faulty pump motor may be your issue if the drain pan is full. Most Samsung units have a drain bung allowing for the pan to be drained.

If the pan is empty but the E153 error has occurred, you might have a faulty float switch. The switch can easily be checked with a multi meter. The float switch is a normally closed switch that opens when its in the high level position.
